Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY
The Application Engineer - Business Intelligence is a crucial hybrid role with the primary
responsibility of leading the full-scale transition and migration of Viamedia’s
business-critical data dashboards from legacy BI platforms to Microsoft Power BI. This role is
project-focused, requiring a senior individual capable of establishing Power BI best practices,
governance, and a center of excellence. This position bridges the gap between raw data
pipelines (ETL/Engineering) and actionable business visualization (BI/Sales/CS), with a
specific focus on ensuring data integrity and optimizing delivery speed within the new Power
BI environment.
WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION
● Location: This role is based in India and is eligible for remote work within the country.
● Time Zone Overlap Requirement: This position requires significant time zone overlap
with U.S. East Coast (EST/EDT) business hours to facilitate real-time collaboration with
key stakeholders, including leadership and operations teams. The successful candidate
must be able to consistently work a schedule that includes coverage until at least 1:00
PM EST.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Power BI Migration & Development
● Lead Power BI Migration: Design, plan, and execute the full-scale migration of existing
BI reports, dashboards, and underlying data logic from legacy platforms (e.g., DOMO) to
Power BI. This is the central, required focus of the role.
● Power BI Development: Own the end-to-end creation, development, and support of all
key internal and client-facing dashboards (e.g., Executive, Sales, Client, and Customer
Success Dashboards) exclusively within Microsoft Power BI.
● Front-End Enhancement: Identify consistent pain points and areas for enhancement in
front-end visualizations, proactively developing solutions to simplify and streamline
reporting for internal teams and clients.
● Trend Analysis: Analyze performance data to identify actionable business trends and
proactively develop new visualizations without explicit request.
B. Data & Application Engineering
● Data Integrity & QA: Perform hands-on data cleansing, quality assurance, and validation
procedures on large, disparate datasets to ensure 100% data integrity and accuracy in all
reporting.
● Data Integration Management: Collaborate directly with Data Engineering to manage
the integration of new data pipelines (DSP/SSP connections) and prioritize the
development of the internal ETL system based on business needs.
● Application Development: Develop and augment existing desktop and web applications
to automate workflows, integrate systems, and increase operational efficiencies in traffic,
billing, and order management.
● Troubleshooting & Support: Act as a key liaison to Customer Success, Sales, and
Operations for day-to-day escalations, troubleshooting, and issue resolution related to
data accuracy and dashboard performance.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
● BS/MS preferably in a technology discipline or equivalent professional experience.
● Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining advanced
dashboards and data applications.
● Demonstrable expert-level experience with Microsoft Power BI, including Power
Query, DAX, and Power BI Service administration.
● Proven, hands-on experience successfully leading or executing a full BI platform
migration project (e.g., from Tableau, Domo, or Qlik to Power BI). This is a
non-negotiable requirement.
● Strong experience developing, implementing, and supporting applications using
Microsoft Technologies.
● Ability to manage large relational Databases.
● Proven experience importing, exporting, and manipulating large datasets from disparate
data sources, emphasizing data cleansing and accuracy.
● Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities to
collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Knowledge of DOMO's ETL logic and visualization structure to facilitate the migration
process. (Nice to have)
● Experience with other visualization tools (e.g., Looker Studio).
● Familiarity with Windows PowerShell (or equivalent) task scheduling for automation.
● Basic experience with Windows Server and SQL Server maintenance/operations.
● Experience with API integrations and web development technologies.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including VBA.
